Wathoora residents allege gross mistakes
Seek intervention of Revenue Minister, DDC Budgam
COMPUTERIZATION OF LAND SETTLEMENT
Budgam (Wathoora), Dec 25: The inhabitants of Wathoora in Tehsil Chadoora and its adjoining villages have criticized the officials of the Revenue Department for allegedly committing gross errors while undertaking computerization of land settlement in their area.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government started the process of computerization of land records in 1998 and till date it is still incomplete.
However, according to the officials in Revenue Department, the process has been completed in Budgam district. But the owners of land in many villages of this Central Kashmir district are not fully satisfied with the process and allege gross mistakes by the authorities.
CASES WERE ERRORS HAVE BEEN COMMITTED
The agricultural land of Gul Muhammad Dar of Shahpora Wathoora has been shown as owned by Ghulam Rasool Waza of Wathoora (Wazapora). Shabir Ahmad Bhat of Dangarpora Wathoora owns two and half kanals of land in Buchroo Khah area. But in the new settlement records, there is no mention of the land at all.
Abdul Qayoom Khan of Shahpora Wathora has two and a half Kanals of land in Buchroo Khah area, but his entire land has been shown in the ownership of Ghulam Ahmad Dar of Shahpora Wathoora. Ghulam Muhammad Dar has one Kanal of land at Buchroo Khah and the same has been shown owned by Master Ghulam Ahmad Bhat of Shahpora Wathoora.
The aggrieved people urged the Revenue Minister, Raman Bhalla and District Development Commissioner, Budgam Muhammad Rafi to immediately initiate probe into the matter and get the records corrected. “This is our ancestral land and we have no other property. The ownership rights should be corrected forthwith,” the people said.
“We appeal to the Revenue Minister and DDC Budgam to come to our rescue and punish the officials who have committed these mistakes,” said Riyaz Ahmad Dar of Wathoora Chadoora.
OFFICIALS SPEAK
Talking to Greater Kashmir Dr Shah Faesal, IAS Probationer posted in Budgam said, he will inform the District Development Commissioner Budgam about this serious matter and very soon a meeting would be held between the Revenue officials of the district and the aggrieved residents.
