Kashmir purely political issue: Shah

Srinagar, Dec 26: Hurriyat (M) leader and Democratic Freedom Party president, Shabir Ahmad Shah on Monday said Kashmir was purely a political issue and it could only be resolved politically after taking its people on board.
“To ease the international pressure, New Delhi is trying to dub the Kashmir issue as a problem which could be solved by giving economic benefits to its people. But the fact remains that Kashmir is neither an economic issue nor a law and order problem. It is a political problem for which lakhs of people have so far offered the supreme sacrifices of their life,” said Shah while addressing a meeting of party workers of Budgam, Bandipora and Islamabad (Anantnag) districts.
Paying rich tributes to the martyrs, Shah reiterated the pledge to take their mission to its logical end.
Shah urged the people to foil the nefarious designs of those who, according to him, are sparing no efforts to whip up sectarian (Shia-Sunni) disharmony in Valley.
