Protests against HCC continue

Pethkoot (Bandipora), Dec 26: Residents of Pazalpora and other adjoining areas continued to protest against Hindustan Construction Company, executing the 380 Megawatt Hydro Electric Power Project at Kralpora here, on fourth consecutive day Monday here in north Kashmir.
  Scores of people took to the streets this morning demanding that HCC should stop polluting the area. The protests today spread to Pethkoot Yali, Mantrigam, Darhmahama and adjoining areas.
 Protestors blocked the Bandipora Bonkoot road and were demanding the treatment of the water allegedly polluted by the HCC machinery and laborers. They threatened to halt work on the power house their grievances are not being redressed.
 “We have no power, while the HCC colony is receiving 24-hrs power supply” said a protester, adding “besides looting our water resources, they (HCC) are diverting the water from public pipes towards their colony.”
