CAPD goes hi-tech

Akhoon launches website,toll free helpline for consumers

Jammu, Dec 2: With a view to bring about transparency in the functioning of CAPD Department and provide up-to-date information to the consumers, a web sitewww.dircapdjmu.nic.in and a toll free helpline 2502609 have been set up in Directorate of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Jammu.
 The website was launched by Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD)   Qamar Ali Akhoon here today.
 Speaking on the occasion the Minister said that government endeavours to provide transparent and good governance to the people of the state, adding that launching website at CAPD head office Jammu is a step in that direction. He said the facilities would benefit common man for getting information regarding availability of essential commodities in government sale depots. They can also register their complaints for early redressal.
  Akhoon called upon the people to give their valuable suggestions for improving public distribution system adding that their suggestions would be considered positively, an official statement said.
 The Minister said that the website will also have the information about Public Information Officers of the department, from whom the consumers can seek information regarding any matter concerned to their areas. He said up-to-date stocking and supply position of food grains at food godowns and sale depots is also available on the website.
 The Minister directed the concerned that data on the website should be updated on daily basis to keep the viewers abreast with the departmental functioning.
