Forces’ camp in civilian areas harmful: Geelani
Srinagar Dec 2: The Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Friday said the presence of armed forces’ camps in the civilian localities had an extremely deleterious impact on the cultural, social and personal life of people.
“The people living in the localities near the armed forces’ camps have developed a number of psychological ailments. The armed forces are still taking the people of these areas on forced labour,” said Geelani in a statement today, reiterating the demand for demilitarisation of the state.
Asking the teachers and parents to desist from sending children on tours, Geelani said that “Under the cover of different programmes like Goodwill, youth are being lured for tours.”
Geelani to address press conference today
The Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani is scheduled to address a press conference on December 3, Saturday, at 12 noon at his Hyderpora residence here.
