Valley gets state-of-the-art rehab centre

IMRAN MUZAFFAR PARRAY

Srinagar, Dec 3: Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) working for  rehabilitation of differently-abled persons today launched a rehabilitation and fitness centre here.
The VMC management said the Shafaqat Centre at Bemina here is first-of-its kind in the Valley which will exclusively cater to the differently-abled people.
The VMS has already signed MoU with prestigious Indian Spinal Injury Centre New Delhi for providing latest rehabilitation services in the Centre.
On the occasion, Member Parliament Prof Saif-ud-din Soz who was the Chief Guest of the function, expressed his happiness over establishment of the Centre.
“This type of rehabilitation center is unique. The VMC management has proved the capacity to care for the people who are otherwise ignored,” Prof Soz said. Later he sanctioned an ambulance for the rehabilitation center.
Earlier, the President VMS, Dr Muhammad Maqbool said the rehabilitation centre already has 75 differently-abled persons. They will get training and subsequently get rehabilitated. For better rehabilitation and new innovations we have been seeking help from various corners who could actually support us. We don’t need capital; we need emotional and technical support,” Dr Maqbool said.
