This refers to celebrating the birth anniversary of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah. How will I remember my  father Ghulam Nabi Wani R/o Alucha Bagh who lost everything while following Sheikh. My father was a Law Graduate of 1953 and during 1956 he was asked to raise the voice against Sheikh's detention. He followed the call of his leader and delivered a speech at Dargah Sharief  against his detention on 23 March 1956 as per the report of  Pandit Pitimber  Nath (SHO Hazratbal ) during 1956. This is in reference to Police Challan produced before Tehsildar Srinagar on 24 March 1956. My father  was under detention for a long time. Due to third Grade torture in the jail he got nervous breakdown as per the medical report from Doctor B.N Khushu DP No:1, Dated 17 July 1956 to the Superintendent Srinagar and was not released for a long time even on this report. In this way he lost everything  and being a Law Graduate could not earn even a single penny for his living, not to speak of his family and was crippled until the last day of his life. It is evident that how the sacrifice of the sufferers is been thrown to winds and renegades are allowed to taste the fruit of sacrifice. As Kashmir observes December 5 as the birth anniversary of Sheikh Abdullah, I remember my father with all pain.
