Srinagar, Dec 4: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R S Chib has said that government is putting all efforts to channelize the talent of youth to enable them to become responsible citizens of the society.
The Minister was addressing a function organised in connection with final match of talent hunt cricket tournament at Kunzer, Tangmarg today.
The Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir was also present, besides Secretary Sports Council, Kiran Watal, Director YSS, J Pal Singh and a large number of youth.
Chib said sports council has started a survey to establish sports infrastructure at divisional and district level. He announced Rs. 10 lakh for development of the Kunzer play field, adding that play field will be developed as sports stadium.
Agriculture Minister called upon the youth to develop sense of discipline in them. He said the sports and sportsmanship plays a vital role for the betterment of the society.
Mir said that our youth could not explore their talent satisfactorily due to turmoil in the previous decade, however, efforts are on to involve rural youth in the sports activities so that their talent is explored.
The Minister announced that a football playfield will be development at Batapora to fulfil the long pending demand of the people of the area.
Later, the Ministers gave away the prizes among winner and runner ups. As many as 64 teams participated in the tournament.
The final match was held between Lalpora and Archanderhama. Archanderhama won the match by 55 runs. Sameer Ahmad Rather was declared as man of the series.
