KU books semis berth, qualify for all India event

Srinagar, Dec 4: In the ongoing Inter-University cricket tournament for women being played at Faizabad, Kashmir University cricket team booked its place in the semi-final after defeating Meerut University by 142 runs in quarterfinal clash on Saturday.
Batting first Kashmir University scored 208 runs in the allotted overs. Ravinder scored unbeaten 88, Hinan 44 while Kaunsar contributed 26.
In reply Allahabd University was bundled out for 66. Hinan claimed four wickets and Qurat three wickets for the winning team.
With this win Kashmir University team qualified for semi finals of the North Zone Inter University Cricket tournament. With the semi-final berth secured KU has cemented its place in All India Inter-University tournament.
It is for the first time that KU has qualified for the All India Inter-University Cricket Tournament for Women scheduled to be held from January 5, next year at Rajasthan.
In the event KUteam earlier defeated Allahabad University and Lovely professional University.
Praising the team’s performance Director Physical Education and Sports KU, Prof Bashir Ahmed Khan said that it is great the teams make us proud at national level.
