Jama’at demands approval to open TWMU
Srinagar, Dec 5: Jama’at-e-Islami on Monday asked the government to give approval for opening Trans World Muslim University (TWMU) in the Valley without any delay.
“The government should grant requisite approval to the establishment of proposed TWMU without further delay,” said the Jama’at spokesman advocate Zahid Ali in a statement.
“The right to education is considered a fundamental human right accepted by all civilized human societies of the globe. This right includes the right to establish higher educational institutions like colleges and universities. There is no higher qualitative educational institute or university existing in the valley except for a few government-run institutions,” he said. “There is no justification for delaying the approval,”
“Jamiat-e-Ahle-Hadees had devised a well-thought plan to establish TWMU to provide higher education according to modern scientific techniques. After fulfilling all requirements it applied for the approval from the government. The Legislative Assembly passed the bill giving the approval to the plan but soon thereafter the process stopped as the matter was handed over to the select committee just to thwart this plan thereby depriving the Kashmiri from availing of this facility,” Ali added.
