CIC calls on Governor
Jammu, Dec 7: State Chief Information Commissioner G R Sufi accompanied by Dr Sudesh Kumar Sharma and Nazir Ahmed, State Information Commissioners called on Governor, N N Vohra here on Wednesday, an official spokesman said.
He said during more than an hour long meeting, the Governor, CIC and the two SICs discussed several important matters relating to the vital role of the State Information Commission in furthering the interests of good governance by exposing deviation from the norm and enhancing accountability.
“The Governor observed that corrupt practices in different arenas, at various levels, will reduce significantly if the Commission is able to effectively discharge its high responsibility,” he said. “Sufi briefed the Governor about the measures being taken for creating greater awareness among the people about their rights under the JK Right to Information Act, 2009.”
