Deliver justice and the situation will change for better
This refers to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s New Year Resolutions that summer violence in Kashmir won’t be allowed to take place and the big fishes must be caught. Only the time will prove whether things will really turn in his favour or we will again see bloodshed this summer. What is important for the Chief Minister at the moment is to ensure that those who were involved in last year’s killings are punished. People would certainly feel a sense of justice if the culprits are punished in accordance with the law of the land. Omar has no compulsion to save the culprits. It is the question of 111 lives we lost in action by police and paramilitary forces. Human life in Kashmir has to be valued as is the case with other states. Let this year be the year of justice for the victims of Kashmir conflict. Kashmiris have lost everything to the brutal conflict in the past two decades. There is no one to give them justice. Even the international community is sleeping. The world bodies are not interested to take up the issue. In such a scenario, it becomes important that justice is delivered at the grassroots level by the state government which was voted to power by people amid odds.
