Pahalgam snow festival inaugurated

Srinagar, Jan 31: The two day Pahalgam Snow festival commenced on Sunday amidst various winter sports and cultural program. On the occasion, the Director Tourism Farooq Ahmad Shah said efforts are on to attract more tourists to Pahalgam.  “The Pahalgam snow festival would be our annual feature. We would also organize summer festivals for promoting the hill-resort and our focus would be on adventure tourism,” Shah said.  The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asghar Samoon said that the Government is committed to promote tourist spots of the Valley.
 “We want to promote the tourism sector so that more and more people earn their livelihood,”he said. The traditional cultures programs including bhand pather, dhambali besides skiing, snow sledging, horse race feature in the festival. Meanwhile, the heads of local traders’ bodies have hailed the efforts of Tourism department to promote Pahalgam.
