Jammu, Feb 9: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Wednesday cleared the way for State Pubic Service Commissioner (PSC) to declare the final selection list of the Combined Services examination - 2009, which is now expected on Thursday.
 Highly placed sources in the PSC told Greater Kashmir that the final decision regarding issuance of selection list will be taken in a meeting to be held on Thursday morning. “We may issue the selection list tomorrow itself”, a PSC official, preferring not to be named said.
 He said that the conduct of next examination for the Combined Services, commonly known as KAS exams – are already delayed due to the legal impediment, which were however cleared today.
 Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Tuesday permitted the PSC to go for the final selection. Though there was no stay on the process, the PSC had made it clear that it was not declaring the result due to the pending writ petitions.
 Deciding a bunch of writ petitions the High Court today ruled in favour of the PSC and allowed it to issue selection list.
 In an important judgement delivered by Justice Sunil Hali, the HC rejected the contentions of the petitions being misconceived and accordingly dismissed all the writ petitions.
 At least 19 write petitions were filed against the result of main examinations.
 Senior Advocate DC Raina assisted by F A Natnoo appearing on behalf of PSC pleaded for dismissal of the writ petitions filed by some candidates belonging to reserved categories having felt aggrieved after the declaration of KAS-2009 (Mains) results in September last.
 A senior official in the commission, preferring anonymity, said the commission has now called a meeting of its official’s tomorrow morning around 10 am at the PSC’s office Resham Ghar Colony where the judgement of the court would be discussed.
 In this meeting, sources said, the commission will also take a decision over the declaration of the result.
 “The final selection list of the selected candidates is likely to be declared tomorrow after the meeting,” the insiders added. It may be mentioned here that a total of 1233 candidates were interviewed by the commission for 398 posts and the interview lasted till January 8, 2010, while the interview of some of the aspirants was conducted later on, following directions of the high court.
 The candidates, who had qualified the mains examination, were in a fix after the results were challenged in the court delaying the final selection.
 Notably, the commission has already issued the roll numbers for the mains examination of the Combined Services Competitive Exam - 2011. This time 7000 candidates would appear in the scheduled main exams for 189 posts in different departments.
 The High Court judgment came as a big respite for the candidates who appeared in the interview.
