Srinagar: Army and SOG personnel on Monday carried out cordon and search operations in Surankote Poonch. According to PBI, Army’s 16 Rashtriya Rifles and SOG cordoned off Murd Chawani forest area in Surankote on the tip-off about the presence of militants. The joint team carried out search operations till noon and failed to trace the militants.
 SSP Poonch, Ashkoor Wani confirmed that the search operations were launched.

Lok Adalat at Pattan
Pattan: According to Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Pattan, a Lok Adalat is being organised at Court Complex Pattan on February 25 in which cases of various nature would be taken up for settlement.

IGP promotes 93 SGCTs
Srinagar: The Inspector General of Police Kashmir, S M Sahai has promoted 93 Selection Grade Constables of Police (Executive) to the rank of Head constables. According to police communiqué, the Departmental promotion Committee of the ZPHQ had earlier approved their inclusion in the promotion list C,II  vide order No 549 of 2010 dated 26/10/2010.

CRPF officer dies in Sopore
Srinagar: A CRPF commandant died of a heart attack at Sopore in north Kashmir on Monday, police said.It said Deputy Commandant Somnath Batacharia of 177  battalion  CRPF No. 1RLA-4863 died due to cardiac arrest at the battalion headquarter Amar Ghar, Sopore.
