Mir for easy loan schemes to agriculturalists

Jammu, Feb 14: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir Monday distributed 175 Kissan Credit Cards worth Rs 75 lakhs among the farmers of three villages of Akhnoor Tehsil here at a function, while stressing need for lauching easy loan schemes for agriculturists.
The function, according to an official statement, was organized by J&K Grameen Bank Branch Akhnoor. The bank is extending credit facilities to the farmers to help them to make their agriculture activities more broad based and self sustaining.
Chairman J&K Grameen Bank, Raja Abdul Lateef and other senior functionaries were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mir said that with the inception of Grameen Bank, the agriculture activities have witnessed a further momentum as farmers and fruit growers are able to get easy loans. He hoped that the J&K Grameen bank would play a vital role in boosting the state’s most vital economic sector, involving 70 percent population of the state.
The Minister said for boosting the agriculture and Horticulture sectors of the this border state, the financial institutions have to launch farmer and grower friendly schemes with handy formalities.
