Over 3 lakh people participated in signature campaign: JKLF (R)
Srinagar, Feb 14: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) on Monday said over three lakh people including men, women and children participated in its week long signature campaign, demanding shifting of the mortal remains of Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Bhat from Tihar Jail, New Delhi to Valley.
“The campaign ended on February 11, at Trehgam Kupwara, the native village of Maqbool Bhat. Hundreds of people including Bhat’s family members participated in the campaign. Thereafter, the Front vice-chairman Tahir Ahmad Mir addressed a Friday prayer meeting at Jamia Masjid, Trehgam. He threw a detailed light on the life and sacrifices of Bhat,” said Front spokesman in a statement, adding the campaign was carried out in district Ganderbal, Budgam, Pulwama, Islamabad (Anantnag), Kulgam, Bandipora, Baramulla and Kupwara.
Front has condoled the demise of the mother of Shaheed Muhammad Hussain Hakak and the father of Mushtaq Ahmad alias Chakoti.
Meanwhile, Front chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karatey and senior vice-chairman, Javid Ahmad Mir have thanked the people of the State for observing complete shutdown on February 11, to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat.
