Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) being celebrated today

Srinagar, Feb 15: Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) is being celebrated on Wednesday with full reverence, devotion and religious fervour in J&K.
Special functions would be held in the Valley at various shrines and Masjids. The biggest function would be held at Hazratbal Shrine here where thousands of devotees would offer special prayers and have glimpses of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Meanwhile, night long prayers were held at various shrines, Masjids and Dargah Hazratbal.  Various Masjids and shrines were also illuminated with candle lights.
Meanwhile, the Governor, N N Vohra and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah  have greeted the people on Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) and hoped that this auspicious occasion would be a harbinger of harmony, peace, progress and prosperity in the state. 
 In their messages, Vohra and Omar described Islam as the religion of peace and said the Holy day marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), whose life was an embodiment of love, equality and brotherhood.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party Patron, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and President, Mehbooba Mufti have also extended greetings to the people on the eve of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
In their message, they said the Teachings, Hadith and Uthwah (Uswa-e-Hassana) of the Prophet (SAW) was the righteous path for humanity to survive with peace and tranquility.
 Meanwhile, Keeping up with its yearly tradition, the Democratic Political Movement is taking out a Milad procession on February 16, Wednesday, from Aabi Guzar here at 11 pm.
The procession, according to DPM statement, would be led by its chairman, Firdous Shah. “The procession will start from Aabi Guzar and end at Hazrat Khawaja Naqashband Sahab (RA) shrine here,” said a party spokesman, appealing people to participate in the procession being organized on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

CM sanctions 10% additional DA for Waqaf staff

Jammu, Feb 15: On the eve of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah who is also Chairman J&K Waqaf Board has sanctioned 10 percent additional DA for regular employees of Waqaf Board. The Waqaf employees will get additional DA from the month of February 2011.
