Anganwari workers stage demo
TARIQ RASOOL
Bandipora, Feb 17: Hundreds of Anganwadi workers today staged a demonstration outside the Social Welfare Office seeking immediate payment of wages, which according to them were pending from the last six months.
The workers under the banner of Kashmir Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union also threatened to launch an agitation if government failed to fulfill their demand forthwith.
KAWAHU representative, Shamshada Begum said “Even though senior officials have released funds, the Anganwari workers and helpers are yet to receive a penny.”
She urged the District Development Commissioner and senior functionaries of Social Welfare Department to take immediate action in this regard.
Additional District development Commissioner, Ghulam Ahmad said “the matter of pending salary will be taken up immediately with the concerned officials.”
