Too little

This refers to the news “New Delhi to pull 10,000 troops from JK.” It is unfortunate that New Delhi is making such statements. Pulling out 10,000 troops from seven lakh forces in Jammu and Kashmir is nothing. It is just fooling people. If the Government of India is really serious about troop cut, it must do it at a large scale. At least the forces must be pulled out from the civilian areas. The demand for demiliterization has been put forth by many separatist leaders including the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani and also by Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Even the Peoples Democratic Party is in its favour. So New Delhi should get serious and withdraw the forces from civilian areas rather than making half-hearted statements and attempts like pulling out 10,000 troops.
