JKLF calls for shutdown on Feb 11
Maqbool Bhat symbol of ongoing movement: Malik
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Feb 1: Paying rich tributes to late Muhammad Maqbool Bhat on his 26th martyrdom anniversary being observed on February 11, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for complete shutdown on that day.
Bhat was executed on February 11, 1984, in Tihar Jail, New Delhi, and his mortal remains were buried in the jail premises.
“Shaheed Bhat is our identity and distinguished symbol of ongoing movement. No conscious Kashmiri can ever forget his martyrdom. This great thinker and leader has shown Kashmiris the way forward,” Malik said in a statement.
“The rulers had thought that by sending Shaheed Bhat to gallows they had put an end to freedom struggle. But the time has proved that his martyrdom has given birth to lakhs of Maqbool Bhats in Kashmir who carried forward his mission and will continue to struggle till the realization of the objective of the independent Kashmir.”
“Denying mortal remains of leader to his people is extremely undemocratic and worst human rights violation. Shifting of mortal remains of Shaheed Bhat from Tihar Jail, New Delhi, to Valley is an extremely sensitive issue which cannot be overlooked. We will continue to raise our voices for shifting of Shaheed Bhat’s mortal remains to Valley,” said Malik.
