I differ

This refers to the write-up titled 'Can Kashmir become Egypt" by Nayeema Mehjoor (GK Feb 18). While drawing parallels between the two regions, she has stated that both are faced with "Islamic Extremism". I beg to differ with her on this observation. It is a universally accepted fact that Kashmir movement is genuinely driven by the political understanding devoid of any religious element. In fact even the Indian thinkers, barring a small communal fringe, subscribe to this view. There is also no such extremism prevalent in Egypt. In fact both regions present a similarity in absence of Islamic Extremism than presence as remarked by the author.
