Yes, Doctors should stay as Doctors
This refers to the article titled “On being a doctor” (GK Feb 19) by Dr. Murassa Shamshad. I completely agree with the writer that it pains to see doctors opting for civil services. Of course, the profession of a doctor and that of a teacher is like a messiah and an administrator cannot come close to a teacher or a doctor. Doctors are to serve the public in general. We Kashmiris are running after money and want to earn more and more in terms of bank balance. Definitely doctors are opting from first class profession to a profesion that is way below. I request the doctors to serve the people and do not go for other professions. This is the time we think about our professions in a matured way and instead of following the immediate look into the delayed consequences of such thinking. After all when somebody has put in so huge an effort into getting trained and educated for one profession why should he be changing it afterwards. Besides being doctor is something that has immense meaning for society and self.
