Gear up City works; Sogami tells admin, tours suburb

Srinagar, Feb 23: Minister of State for Tourism, Housing  and Urban Development,   Nasir Sogami on Wednesday asked the project executing agencies to gear up various ongoing works in the summer Capital while touring the City.
 “He issued directions to the concerned executing agencies for expediting the construction work and complete these within the stipulated time frame. He also asked the concerned Engineers to utilize standard material and there should be no compromise with the quality of the work,” an official handout said.           
 The Minister visited Peerbagh and inspected construction of 218 Meters long drain by UEED at a cost of Rs 10 lakh and was told that the construction work of drain would be completed within 15 days.  
 He also inspected the Al-Amin Colony Hyderpora drain under execution at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh by Srinagar Municipal Corporation which will be completed within 15 days, the official handout said.
 The Minister also inspected the Gulberg Colony drain under phase 2nd being constructed by ERA and it was told that 60 percent of work on the project has been completed.           
 The Minister also inspected the Rawalpora-Tengpora drain of ERA coming up at a cost of Rs. 57.32 crore and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.           
 Sogami also inspected work of 1070 Meter long drain at Gulshan Nagar Bye-Pass and was informed that the construction work of the drain will be completed by the end of this year.  
 Sogami instructed the Deputy Director, Fire and Emergency Services to continue draining out the water from Gulshan Nagar till drain is completed.           
 The Minister also visited Sumerbugh and inspected the development works etc. “As many as 216, out of 246, dwelling units for Chunti Khul dwellers are under construction of which 40 units have been completed. The Minister was informed that Rs. 2.75 lakh is being spent on per unit. Besides, Community Centre, Vocational Centre and Parks are also the part of the projects. The Srinagar Development Authority has already completed stadium in Samerbugh,” the handout said.           
 The Minister was accompanied by the officers of UEED, ERA, SMC and Fire and Emergency Services.
