PPP has formula for K-issue resolution: War

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Feb 25: While presenting his party’s ‘formula’ for the resolution of Kashmir issue, Peoples Political Party chairman, Hilal War today said the interlocutors appointed by New Delhi for the Jammu and Kashmir were ‘giving the notion’ that nobody in the pro-freedom camp had a roadmap or solution for the dispute.
“Some resistance leaders openly confess they have nothing to offer doesn’t mean the search should stop there. Kashmir issue isn’t represented by handful of people,” War said during a media briefing.
“The three internationally recognized formulae, Dixon Plan, Kathwari Formula and the PPP’s Hilal Formula are strong evidence that Kashmiris do have solutions to offer to the Government of India, Pakistan and other movers and shakers of the international politics”.
He said hence the point that Kashmiri leadership had nothing to offer had no buyers here.
“PPP has once again taken the lead to offer the Hilal Formula to India, Pakistan and the international fraternity, so that the miseries of Kashmiris are ended once for all and a threat of a looming nuclear war is avoided permanently,” he said.
He claimed PPP had been advocating a 3-point “Hilal Formula” since August 10, 1996 for settling Kashmir problem.
“PPP has pioneered the historic Confidence Building Measures embodied in its Roadmap, between India and Pakistan which transformed into reality in the Shape of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Bus Service followed by Truck Service,” War said.
He said their party’s formula was the “only practicable solution” to Kashmir problem.
War said, “Self-Rule and joint control propounded by former Pakistan President, General Pervez Musharraf, Chenab Formula, presented by Z A Bhutto can also be accommodated in the list of solutions suggested in the J&K People’s Convention,” he said.
He said the Kashmir problem was about the very existence of the people ad thus has to be settled by common man of J&K.
“No person or party or conglomerate would be allowed by people of J&K to act as their political Attorney,” he said.
“The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, needs to enact his role of a bold visionary and consider a solution to Kashmir outside the rubric of Indian federalism,” War added.
He said India had not softened its Kashmir policy and “continues to demonstrate rigid stance.”
