Yasin Malik to observe hunger strike today

Srinagar, Feb 25: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik would go on a one day hunger strike on Saturday to protest against the arrests of youth, including students, and to express solidarity with the detainees languishing in various jails besides pressing for justice to 118 innocents killed during 2010 unrest.     
 The JKLF spokesman said hunger strike would be observed from 9 am to 6 pm, outside the JKLF central office, Maqbool Manzil, Maisuma.
 “The family members of martyrs and detainees, and people from various walks of life will participate in the hunger strike,” the JKLF spokesman added.
 Malik has observed fast several times earlier as well. Notably in 2008, he went on hunger strike against the economic embargo imposed on Kashmir by the right wing groups. He has also gone on strike when he was in prison in 1990 and 1992 respectively.
