'Pollution at Lal Bazar colony'
AT a time when the world says that the pollution levels need to be brought down, the authorities in Srinagar seem to be promoting the opposite. And an example to this is the well populated residential area of Baghaate-Shoor, Alamdar Colony, Lal Bazar.
The Safai Walas dump the garbage from adjacent localities in the backyard of the colony in an open land measuring of 3-4 kanals. The site is proposed to be a children’s park. But for now it’s a dumping ground. This seems to be sheer negligence on the part of civic body officials who have been sleeping over the issue.
Not only this vacant land has become a trash dumping ground, it also happens to be a breeding ground for dogs.
We appeal the SMC Commissioner, Sheikh Mushtaq to do the needful.
