Act prudently
Doctors are considered to be the noble professionals and particularly Kashmiri doctors have won laurels all over the world for their competence and dedication. The recent crackdown on doctors for doing private practice is just victimizing them. If teachers and other professionals are free to do other jobs despite being in Government service, the doctors cannot be made scapegoats. The Government health sector is too much burdened and people have to see doctors in private for so many reasons. But it is the duty of doctors to make sure that they don't go to private clinics during the time when they should be in hospitals. A wrong cannot be justified by another wrong. Since patients travel from far flung areas to get an appointment with a doctor but finding none is a huge injustice. A ban on private practice or working in private clinics is a harsh steps and we need to balance it so that doctors as well as patients don't suffer. Government must understand that for the doctors and particularly Kashmiri doctors the Gulf countries offer good jobs and in the process of crack down on their private practice we should only lose the services of competent doctors. If doctors do not find Government jobs lucrative, then they have the choice of doing private practice only.
