PSC loses answer scripts ‘in transportation’; aspirants aghast
SCREENING FOR COMPUTER LECTURERS POST
WASIM KHALID
Srinagar, Feb 2: The Public Service Commission has asked the aspirants who appeared in the screening test for the post of computer lecturers for higher secondary level to re-appear in the examination saying that “the answer scripts were lost during transportation to Jammu.”
The Kashmiri aspirants who submitted their forms for the posts in January 2008 appeared in the test after two years on Jan 9, 2010, are now angered by the lackadaisical attitude of the Commission and its subsequent announcement of re-examination. “We were waiting for the list of short listed candidates and preparing for the interview. But we are now shocked to know that our screening tests have been cancelled due to the misplacing of answer papers,” the aspirants said.
Ridiculing the PSC decision to re-conduct the test, the students said, the ‘misplacing’ of answer sheets was not their fault. “The PSC is responsible for this carelessness,” the agitated aspirants said, adding, “We already waited for more than two years. How come we would prepare for the screening test once again? We have to invest time, money and hard work for appearing in the test”.
The aspirants demanded that the PSC should reconsider their decision. “We do not want to wait for more time,” the aspirants said.
Some 672 Kashmiri aspirants have appeared from Kashmir zone for the lecturer screening test while 1100 are from Jammu. “The Jammu aspirants have to also to re-appear in the test” aspirants said.
The PSC has issued a notification in this regard on its website dated 01-02-2011. “It is notified for all the concerned candidates that due to reasons beyond the control of the Commission, (viz loss of Air Consignment containing used OMR response sheets), the screening test of Lecturer 10 +2 Computer Science held on 09.01.2011 is hereby cancelled,” the notification reads.
“The Commission has already initiated legal action against the Concerned Airlines/ Cargo Agency,” it added.
