Seminar on conservation of wetlands, forests
Srinagar, Feb 2: A seminar on “Conservation of Wetlands” was held on Wednesday at Khanam’s Educational Institute, Lawaypora Srinagar where the speakers gave thrust on joint efforts for the protection of water bodies and the forests.
Chief Conservator of Forests, G R Wani was the chief guest while Conservators of Forests also participated in the seminar besides local people and students.
Speakers appealed to all the participants for carrying message about the importance of these wetlands particularly Dal Lake, Wullar Lake, Nigeen Lake, Hokersar and many other water bodies where migratory birds come every year.
On this occasion, a number of students also spoke on the topic at length.
Later, the three best speakers Showkat Ahmad of Rahi School, Zahida Majid of Public School and Tahira of Star Coaching Institute were given Ist, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
