Deadly disease

This refers to the alarming situation of cancer in Kashmir, as has been underlined by experts during a conference at SK Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura recently. Though Japanese experts have promised to help fight the deadly disease, we must also contribute in this direction. Authorities in the health care must hold district level campaigns to educate people about the causes of cancer in the Valley. The experts are right that it needs thorough research to find out what exactly is the cause of cancer in Kashmir. If food habits are a problem, people need to be told that they must change their food habits and not take excess meat and salt. In rural areas, people are unaware about all this. The SKIMS medicos can hold campaigns through media, both print and electronic, to aware people about cancer. It is sad that we are not able to address this problem, when the world has made advances in this direction. Let’s unanimously vow to help eradicate the deadly disease from the Valley. We can do it, provided we show determination.
