Burglars’ gang busted in B'pora, 3 held

Bandipora, Dec 31: Police in Bandipora today claimed to have busted a gang of burglars by arresting three persons.
Identifying the accused as Tahoor Ahmed Bhat son of Muhammad Subhan Bhat, Irshad Ahmed Bhat son of Fayaz Ahmed Bhat of Aragma Bandipora and Shoaib Ahmed Beigh of Srinagar, police claimed the recovery of stolen items including 15 Tolas of gold, eight mobiles, laptop, four carpets, 15 gas cylinders, seven electric motors and utensils worth thousands of rupees and some valuable documents.
Police said Shoaib Ahmed Beigh was involved in many thefts in Srinagar and was wanted in these cases.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, SHO Bandipora, Abdul Khalid said a complaint regarding theft of gas cylinders was received from various localities and after receiving a tip-off, police team apprehended Tahoor and Irshad. “During interrogation the duo admitted of their involvement in the burglaries and named Shoaib as the third culprit,” he said.
Superintendent of Police, Bashir Ahmed Khan described the arrest of trio as a ‘huge success.’ “They used to conduct recce of the houses and later commit the thefts,” he said adding the accused were detained couple of times.
