KCCI extends terms of its Executive Committee

Srinagar, Dec 31: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Residency Road on Friday extended the term of its present Executive Committee including office bearers headed by Nazir A Dar for a year in view of the disturbed condition in the Valley.
In a statement, a spokesman of KCCI said the decision was taken during the Extra-Ordinary General Meeting (EOGM) which was attended by its past president and members.
In a statement, after welcoming all the participants to the EOGM senior vice-president Abdul Hamid Punjabi, two resolutions were moved as per the circulated agenda with slight modification proposed by Nazir Ahmad Bakshi which were approved by majority of members.
“In view of disturbed conditions which were prevalent in the Valley, term of the present Executive Committee including office bearers headed by Nazir A Dar is hereby extended for a further period of one year. Consequential amendment to Article 34 (a) of the Constitution of the KCCI,” the statement said.
It said by virtue of item no 3 sub-items (a) and (e) of the agenda were discussed and it was decided that the matters contained therein fall within the competence of the Executive Committee of KCCI.
“It was decided that these issues should be referred to the said Committee for consideration and formulation of a proper policy to deal with such and other similar issues in future. Regarding sub-item (f0, this item invited protracted discussion and it was resolved that any autonomous body created hereinafter by the KCCI shall work under the overall control and supervision of the Executive Committee and shall function within the constitutional limits of KCCI,” it added.
