Akhoon Sahib complains of poor civic amenities

SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI

Srinagar, Jan 9: The residents of Akhoon Sahib, Gojwara near Islamia College Science and Commerce in Shahr-e-Khaas have complained of poor civic amenities saying that the area lanes and drainage were in bad condition.
The locals said: “Poor drainage leads to waterlogging and makes sewage spill over the lanes due to which area remains inundated and we find it inconvenient venture out of our houses”.
The residents said the authorities had installed dewatering pumps but the same have developed snag.
“We fear the overflow of drains will seep into our houses,” they said.
Given the wet winter conditions they said:” During rains and snow there is every possibility slipping on the uneven lanes”.
The locals said they approached the concerned to get rid of the problems but to no avail.
They appealed the concerned MLA to look into the matter.
