Constitution of Info Commission on cards
Srinagar, Jan 11: A committee headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, would meet on January 27 to discuss appointment of the State Chief Information Commission (SCIC).
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and partner in ruling coalition, National Conference, had maintained that the Information Chief should be a state subject.
A vernacular news agency KNS said the opposition leader, Mehbooba Mufti, who is one of the members of the panel, has already given her consent to attend the meeting.
Sources said the state government has already set January 31 as deadline for filling the posts of SCIC and two Information commissioners of the body. Besides the CM and opposition leader, the Deputy Chief Minister, is another member of the panel. Once the panel finalizes the names, the recommendations would go to the governor for his consent.
