Gopalpora BSNL tower mal-functions
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Jan 12: The BSNL mobile-phone tower at Gopalpora Chadoora has not been functioning smoothly ever since its installation three years back, locals alleged.
They alleged that the tower completely goes “dead” when there is no power supply in the area. “It is unfortunate that the genset is not being put to use when there is no power,” they said.
The locals said that they had brought the issue into the notice of General Manager, BSNL several times but no action was taken.
President Local Auqaf Committee Bashir Ahmad Bhat said: “We had even filed an application under RTI Act seeking information about the supply of diesel for the genset at the mobile tower. The information we received revealed that hundreds of litres of diesel are supplied by the company for the genset.”
Bhat said, however, they did not know where that diesel goes. “We will be compelled to file a case in the consumer forum if the authorities do not listen to us,” Bhat added.
Curiously, same complaints are pouring in from Shivpora locality here, where the consumers allege that the tower in the area does not work properly.
Meanwhile, the people of these areas have urged BSNL authorities to look into their complaints.
