Stage protests after Friday prayers: Geelani
'OBSERVE SHUTDOWN ON SATURDAY'
Srinagar, Jan 13: The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has urged people to stage peaceful demonstrations for an hour after Friday prayers on January 14 against the "arrest spree" in the Valley.
Geelani also reiterated his shutdown call for Saturday (January 15).
In a statement, Geelani said despite “pressure tactics” including arrests during the past 63 years, New Delhi has failed to break the resolve of Kashmiris. “The ongoing movement has been streamlined as youth are acting as its fountainhead,” he said.
Defending strikes Geelani said it was the only option left with the Kashmir to register protests against the atrocities. “There is no definite calendar of our protests. We will give the protest calendar whenever the situation demands,” he said.
Geelani advised the Indian leadership to accept the ground realities in Kashmir and give right to self-determination to Kashmir at the earliest.
