PAC for implementing social schemes

Jammu, Jan 14: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Legislative Assembly has called for an affective mechanism to implement various social schemes so that the benefits percolate down to the needy. The Committee has favoured a fresh survey to identify the left out genuine beneficiaries across the State.
The Committee met here today under the Chairmanship of MLA   Abdul Rehman Veeri to discuss CAG’s Audit Report 2008-09 pertaining to Financial Management and Supplementary Nutrition in the Social Welfare department.
The Committee stressed for launching a vigorous awareness campaign to educate the general masses about the benefits of State and centrally sponsored schemes meant for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society and rehabilitation of militancy affected people.
The Committee took serious note of shortfall in utilization of funds and non realization of targets. It directed the concerned officers to achieve the targets and utilize the earmarked funds within the stipulated time frame.
The Committee directed the officers of Assembly Secretariat to obtain a list of Sub-Tribal Plan beneficiaries from the District Development Commissioner, Poonch for the perusal of the Members. The Committee took serious note of non-utilization of funds under the Sub-Tribal Plan as per the prescribed norms.
