‘We will hoist tricolour at Lal Chowk’
BJP UPS THE ANTE
RAJEEV SHARMA
Jammu, Jan 15: Upping the ante, the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday reiterated its pledge to hoist tricolour at historic Lal Chowk on January 26.
The pledge was taken by JK BJP president Shamsher Singh Manhas at the opening day of two-day-long State Working Committee (SWC) meet of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that commenced in Jammu on Saturday.
The meet primarily remained focussed on BJYM’s plan of flag hoisting at Lal Chowk.
Addressing the members, Manhas said his party would leave no stone unturned in turning the BJPYM yatra a historic success and also unfurl the tricolor at Lal Chowk.
“While the National Conference, the Peoples Democratic Party and the Congress have lost their grounds in Jammu, the BJP’s role becomes more important and its strongest emergence as the only nationalist force would be reflected with the hoisting of the tricolour in the valley,” he said.
“J&K has very peculiar identity and every now and then there are such developments which invite the attention of the world community. Be it Praja Parishad, Jan Sangh or the BJP, our cadres have always been front runners in raising voice against and agitating over such issues which are aimed at distancing the state from rest of the country,” he asserted.
He also warned the parties to stay away from doing politics over the issue. “There is no politics in flag hoisting. There should be only one Indian tricolour hoisted all over as any other flag hoisted on the occasion gives a sense of separatism”.
