Dewatering pumps non-functional due to power breakdown: Senior citizens
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Jan 15: Srinagar City Senior Citizens’ Forum has expressed serious concern over the inundation of various areas in the City due to what they said non-functioning of dewatering pumps as a result power breakdown following heavy snowfall.
“The water in various colonies in Srinagar city that have no natural water outlet, is being pumped out with dewatering pumps. Once there is power breakdown, these pumps are rendered non-functional. These can be made functional in the absence of power supply by the providing fuel to the pump sheds. But the departments concerned hardly provide fuel to them for the reasons best to known to them only,” said a spokesman of the Forum in a statement today, demanding that steps be taken to ensure round- the- clock dewatering of these areas.
The Forum has also expressed serious concern over the acute shortage of LPG and kerosene in all the areas of city. “The people are facing severe hardships in the absence of LPG and kerosene,” said the spokesman, demanding that the government take immediate steps to keep available LPG at the peoples’ door steps.
