Oil & Gas conservation fortnight begins

Jammu, Jan 15: Stressing on the need of energy saving for a secure future, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) & Transport, Omar Ali Akhoon, today called for launching a vigorous awareness campaign on Oil and gas conservation to educate consumers on judicious use of petroleum products.
He said this while presiding over a function on Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight-2011 organized by the oil industry here today. The fortnight is being celebrated from January 15 to 31, 2011 throughout India. Elaborating salient features of the programme, Akhoon said the main objective of the celebrating this fortnight is to create awareness about various fuel saving tips in various fields dependent on oil and gas, including transport, industries, agricultural and household sectors. He stressed for achieving the goal by launching massive awareness programmes in urban as well as rural areas.
The Minister appreciated the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) for preparing pamphlets based on their research which will immensely help in energy conservation.
