Omar vows continued efforts for peace in JK

Jammu, Jan 15: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday said that his efforts for cultivating lasting peace in the State would continue along with forward push to the economic prosperity.
“My government’s sustained endeavours to create political atmosphere for tackling political issues have started yielding positive results,” he said expressing his vow to facilitate dialogue and help in expanding confidence building measures.
The Chief Minister was speaking to various deputations and political activists who called on him here to extend their greetings for completing two years in office.
The deputations also lauded the role of Chief Minister in facilitating political dialogue and initiation of new confidence building measures on security and political trends.
Welcoming the people’s faith in the delivery of coalition government, the Chief Minister said that his government right from taking over has highlighted the developmental and political issues positively and without creating hype was able in path breaking decision making at the Central as well as State level.
The Chief Minister said that his efforts would continue to give good governance and make administration more responsive and prompt to the people’s requirements. “Our agenda is to ensure equitable development of all regions and sub-regions of the State and in this direction a comprehensive policy has been put in place”, he said and assured the people of fulfillment of the promises of his government to the people on development front.
Omar asked the people to exhibit their earnest faith in the high principles of brotherhood and amity between various sections of the society and strengthen the traits of secular temperament. “Many people want to disturb the communal harmony prevailing in the state since ages and de-stabilize the bonds of solidarity between various regions. You should stand firmly against such forces and foil their designs”, he told the people emphasizing on nurturing the state’s rich traditions of harmony.
The Chief Minister said that his government has focused on un-employment crisis with firm determination to enhance employability and develop the skills of youth to enable them proper place in present job market. “Besides providing considerable employment to the youth in government sector our endeavour is to help them venture upon in a big way in the field of entrepreneurship sector”, he said adding that the government during last two years has provided about 25,000 jobs to educated young persons in the government sector while 43,000 jobs have also been sanctioned for casual engagements.
The deputation led by Legislator Nazir Ahmad Gurezi requested regular helicopter services for Gurez and thanked the Chief Minister for electrifying the remote areas through new and renewable energy resources. The deputation also lauded the role of Union Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah in this regard.
A deputation led by Legislator Ajay Sadhotra brought to the notice of Chief Minister various issues pertaining to the development of Marh area and requested for fast tracking development schemes.
A deputation led by Qasir Jamshed Lone urged for special employment drive in the Langate area. The deputation also highlighted various demands regarding the holistic development of the area.
A deputation from Reasi apprised the Chief Minister various demands pertaining to the district and requested for special development and employment package for the remote and far-off areas of Reasi district.
Various deputations from Jammu, Udhampur, Ramban, Samba, Srinagar, Pulwama, Budgam and Islamabad (Anantnag) presented memoranda of their demands to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister gave patient hearing to the deputations and individuals and assured active consideration of their genuine demands.
