Arif wins 2nd gold

Srinagar, Jan 16: Valley based skier Arif Khan continued his dream run in the ongoing 1st South Asian Winter Games by winning his second gold medal  at Auli in Uttrakhand on Sunday.
 He clinched the gold in slalom event while Pakistan bagged silver. India also bagged bronze in the same event.
 It was second gold by Arif Khan in the event as he won first gold for India on the inaugural day in giant slalom. With this Arif has bagged two gold medals in the event.
 The 1st South Asian Winter Games are being held in twin cities of Dehradun and Auli in Uttarakhand and from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and India are participating. The games are being organised by the Indian Olympic Association and the Winter Games Federation of India.
 Arif is only player from Jammu and Kashmir in the Indian contingent.  Gul Mustafa is also part of the games as Chief of Technical Committee.
 Talking to Greater Kashmir on phone from Auli, Arif said, “It is dream come true. I have been practising hard from last many years. I will continue to work hard and will try to win many more medals.”
 Crediting his coach, Gul Mustafa for the success, Arif said, “I was lucky to have my first coach and only first Olympian of JK, Gul Mustafa along with me during whole event. His presence boosted my morale and he gave me lot of tips which proved beneficial."
 Hailing Ari's performance, Mustafa said, “Arif has made whole state proud. He proved today that JK has got tremendous talent in winter sports. He deserves applause for his achievement.”
