List of 37 villages accorded backward status

Srinagar, Jan 16: The Cabinet in its decision on Friday accorded approval to the inclusion of 37 villages in the list of Backward areas as recommended by the J&K State Commission for Backward Classes.
These villages are: Shiet Paripora in Pulwama, Takya in Banihal, Balwat, Dharalta, Chakwah, Sawani and Kanga in Ramban, Daroo Frastwaree in Handwara, Wussan Bangil in Tangmarg, Suderkoote in Sonawari, Ghind in Shopian, Gulshanpora in Tral, Charigam in Pahalgam, Hassanpora Twela in Bijbehara, Pranhall in Kulgam, Dab in Ganderbal, Takiya Khan Mohd in Sopore, Gundi-Arjun in Budgam, Kachloo Guazipora in Handwara, Kothal, Kharkoot and Danar in Banihal tehsil, Papria (consisting of hamlets of Papria, Pengali, Thera, Talaiser and Madan Mora) in Ramban tehsil, Pattathanna in Darhal, Allai in Thanamandi, Malhut, Dodaj and Darhal (consisting of Mohras of Budhkhanari, Khori-Wali, Hattrian, Athpoj, Pergal, Neridoba and Badi Darhal) in Darhal tehsil, Lah in Thanamandi, Kartyal Simbal and Serh in Akhnoor, Palpora in Anantnag, Putrigam in Pulwama, Vawoora in Kupwara, Thandi Choi in Akhnoor, Dhar in Bhaderwah, hamlet Melahni of village Nagar in Bhaderwah.
The Cabinet also gave nod to the inclusion of Sheer Gojries in the list of Social Caste besides inclusion of some villages and castes in the list of RBA and Social Caste.
