Search Committee likely to meet on Jan 19

Appointment of BOSE chairman

RAJEEV SHARMA

Jammu, Jan 16: The meeting of Search Committee to select a ‘deserving and competent’ person for coveted post of Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education is likely to be held on January 19.
Earlier, the Minister for School Education, Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed had said the Committee members would meet on January 15 to select new JKBOSE chairman, a post which has been lying vacant for the last two months.
Official sources told Greater Kashmir that the Committee members are likely to meet on January 19 as they could not hold the proposed meeting on January 15 in view of the visit of a high-level delegation of senior Central bureaucrats led by Cabinet Secretary, K M Chandrasekhar.
“However, as the two-day-long visit of Central officers from January 17 had been postponed, the Committee is likely to hold its meeting on January 19 and make efforts to finalize a suitable personality for the coveted and prestigious post,” Committee member said on the conditions of anonymity.
The Central delegation would now visit Jammu after January 26.
The state government has constituted a six-member search committee to select new JKBOSE chairman.
The Committee comprises, Commissioner Secretary Education, Naseema Lankar as chairperson and the members include former commissioner/secretary, Education, G A Peer, Director Colleges, University of Jammu, Dr Rajiv Gupta, ex-chairman, BOSE, Dr JP Singh, Prof M S Khan and General Administration Department Commissioner/Secretary.
