Traffic mess

This refers to an article titled ''We need a better management" by Dr  Farooq Ahmad Peer (GK 04-01-2011). The author should have focused on the root causes of traffic mess in the state. We should prefer public transport to private transport. This way the rate of accident will go down and the pollution levels will also decrease. In the recent past, roads in J&K have devoured hundreds of people in accidents. Traffic police does not have magic wand to control the ever increasing burden of traffic on the roads, though it can regulate the same provided the number of vehicles is less. Exponential increase in vehicular traffic has squeezed the space for normal traffic on our roads.
