50 fruit growers send on study tour
Jammu, Jan 18: Department of Horticulture, Jammu organized study tour of 50 fruit growers of Jammu district under the centrally sponsored scheme Horticulture Mission for North East and Himalayan States (HMNH) here today.
Director Horticulture Jammu J. L. Sharma while interacting with the fruit growers before their departure advised them to take maximum benefit from this exposure visit. He urged upon them to interact with the progressive fruit growers of other parts of the district and try to learn the latest scientific techniques being adopted by them in their fields. He briefed the farmers about the benefits of Drip and Sprinkler Irrigation Systems especially in the kandi areas and advised them to avail incentives available with the department for irrigation systems under various centrally sponsored schemes, an official statement said.
Director Horticulture further impressed upon the farmers to adopt Aloe-Vera cultivation in a big way as the District has immense potential for its cultivation and moreover special incentive @ Rs. 2250/- per kanal is available for the farmers in J&K for Aloe-Vera cultivation.
