Comply with stay order: Court to SKIMS
SUSPENSION OF DR BUHROO
Srinagar: The High Court has directed the authorities in SK Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura to comply with the stay order on the suspension of Head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr Ali Muhammad Buhroo.
The Court of Justice Hasnain Masoodi directed the Institute Director to comply with the order and in “default remain present” on Jan 31. The case shall come up for consideration on Jan 31.
On December, 2010, High Court stayed the suspension order of Dr Buhroo and directed the SKIMS authorities to allow him to continue as the head of the department till further orders.
On Dec 11, the Director SKIMS, Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar suspended Dr Buhroo for allegedly misbehaving with the team of Medical Council of India, which was on visit to the Institute. Dr Buhroo’s room was sealed by the SKIMS authorities.
Subsequently, Dr Buhroo filed a writ petition through Advocate B A Bashir before the High Court seeking the quashment of the suspension order. Court after hearing the counsel for petitioner stayed the order and allowed his client to continue as the head of the department. However, SKIMS authorities did not implement the order. The petitioner later filed the contempt petition against the SKIMS Director. After hearing the contempt petition, the Court directed the SKIMS authorities to implement the order in letter and spirit.
