JK to get Rs 90 cr for env security: Altaf
Jammu, Jan 20: The Minister for Forest and Environment, Mian Altaf today said the Government of India had agreed to give Rs 90 crore to the J&K for execution of World Bank-aided project on climate change and environment security.
Altaf, who met the Union Minister for Environment and Forest, Jairam Ramesh recently, said Rs 100 crore as a one-time special grant had also been asked from the Centre to restore the pristine glory of the degraded forests.
Ramesh appreciated the idea and asked the State to submit a proposal for the same, he said.
The state government has constituted Wullar Development Authority for which Rs 120 crore have been earmarked in the 13th Finance Commission, he said.
Altaf also demanded enhancement of the ceiling of next year’s funds under Forest Development Agency from Rs 9 crore to Rs 27 crore.
