JKLF (Aman) backs Yaseen Malik’s programme
Srinagar, Jan 20: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (Aman) has announced its full support to JKLF chairman Muhammad Yaseen Malik’s proposed programme of hoisting Kashmiri flag at historical Lal Chowk here on January 26.The decision to this effect, according to Front statement issued on Thursday by its publicity secretary Andleeb Kashmiri, was taken at a zonal executive meeting here.The Front has appealed to people to assemble at Lal Chowk in a large number to make Malik’s programme successful.
National Awardee Teachers condole demise
Srinagar, Jan 20: The All India National Awardee Teachers State Unit J&K has condoled the demise of mother-in-law of Director School Education Kashmir Shagufta Parveen.A statement of AINAT, said that a condolence meeting was held which was attended by all office bearers of National Awardee Teachers State chapter.The National Awardee Teachers expressed their sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family especially with Shagufta Parveen and prayed for the departed soul, said Muhammad Ashraf Khan, media secretary (AINAT), state unit JK.
Give us more preparation time: KAS aspirants
Srinagar, Jan 20: The KAS aspirants who have qualified the preliminary examination today urged the Public Service Commission to give them more preparation time for the mains paper. A delegation told Greater Kashmir “The gap between the declaration of our preliminary results and mains has been kept only two and a half months which used to be minimum five months,” an aspirant said.
Antony honours Leh girl
Srinagar: Defence Minister, A K Antony has honoured Yeshi Wangmo, National Cadet Corps cadet from Leh for participating in the rescue efforts during the cloudburst last year. The 20-year-old Wangmo of Choglamsar and student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School motivated other cadets to provide succour to the affected families. “It is a proud moment for me that my daughter has been awarded for her dedication to her fellow beings,” said Tsering Palmo, Yeshi’s mother.
Haripora complains of ‘PDD discrimination’
Srinagar: The residents of Haripora Ganderbal have accused the Power Development Department of discrimination in power distribution.
They alleged that the PDD staff at the concerned grid was providing “uninterrupted power supply to the areas where their kiths and kins were residing while Haripora was being victimized.” They appealed to the Chief Engineer PDD to look into the matter.

Implement UN resolutions in Kashmir: HCBA
Srinagar: The High Court Bar Association on Thursday said the Kashmir issued should be resolved by holding an impartial plebiscite in accordance with the UN resolutions. In a statement, the HCBA said, “There can be no substitute to the freedom which is the cherished goal of the J&K people.”“J&K is a disputed territory and the Indian claim of Kashmir being its integral part is baseless,” it said.
